MAKE-DAY: Enamel with Decals SAT 06 JULY

In this class you will learn all about the exciting technique of enamelling with decals. You will learn how to fire the enamel in layers and use photo fusing paper to create a beautiful piece of art, which you can then turn into a beautifully decorative pendant.

What will I make?
You will make two decorative sterling silver discs with a design created using enamel decals, which can be turned into a beautiful pendant.
What will happen on the day?
You will begin by doming and base enamelling two 25mm silver discs, allowing your to experiment with two different designs. You will then learn to use rubber stamps to print designs on photo fusing paper using painting enamel. This will then be repeatedly fired, adding more pattern and colour between firings. You will also have the opportunity to add gold lustre to your design.
You will have the opportunity to practice further on pieces of copper if time allows.
What skills do I need?
Difficulty Level: EASY/MEDIUM
No previous experience necessary. Some jewellery knowledge preferred however not essential.
What should I bring?
- Pair of fine nosed scissors
- Reading glasses (if you need them!)
- Hairband to tie hair back
- Apron to protect clothing
What should I wear?
Clothes: Casual and not too precious as they may get a bit dusty or damaged. Avoid long, loose fitting sleeves and anything that might catch or get caught whilst you are working.
Shoes: Casual flat shoes and no open toed sandals in case you drop a hammer or something hot on them!
Hair: Tie long hair back.
Who is my instructor?
Linda Connelly is an award winning enamel artist and jeweller who has been making enamelled jewellery for over thirty years from her studio in Surrey. She is an experienced tutor who spent nearly twenty years teaching enamelling and jewellery making in adult education, most recently teaching her own private classes up until the pandemic
